According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Packers restructured the contracts of cornerback Jaire Alexander and defensive end Preston Smith. These moves will create roughly $16 million in cap space.

Alexander, 26, is coming off another productive year in Green Bay. He finished the 2022 season with 56 tackles and five interceptions.

Smith, meanwhile, had 59 tackles and 8.5 sacks during the regular season. The NFL world believes these moves are a sign that Green Bay won't enter a rebuilding year.

"Easy and predictable levers for Packers to pull here," Zach Kruse of Packers Wire tweeted.

"The moves have begun!! Is this an attempt to keep Rodgers or are they clearing space to help Love? Either way, good play," a Packers fan said.
