Amos L. Mazzant III, who was appointed by Barack Obama, will now preside of over Irvin's case. According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, this is "good news" for the Pro Football Hall of Famer.
Judge Mazzant has worked on NFL cases in the past. In 2017, he blocked the suspension of Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott under the Personal Conduct Policy.
Marriott has not revealed the identity of the accuser or released the hotel's video surveillance tapes, despite requests from both the district court and Irvin's legal team.
"Honestly, I'm a bit baffled with it all," Irvin told the Dallas Morning News after the allegations surfaced.. "This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I got back after going out
I came into the lobby and I talked to somebody. I talked to this girl. I don't know her, and I talked to her for about 45 seconds. We shook hands. Then, I left. ... That's all I know."
