Marriott has reportedly made a decision in a lawsuit involving Hall of Fame wide receiver and current analyst Michael Irvin. According to The Athletic's Daniel Kaplan, the hotel chain has removed the case from state court in Texas to federal court.

Irvin filed the lawsuit against Marriott, seeking $100 million in damages following allegations of misconduct by a female employee.
Federal law allows defendants sued in state court to take the case to federal court when the defendants are not residents of the state in which they have been sued.

This practice is meant to ensure a fairer trial for out-of-state residents who are being sued. Irvin can file a motion to demand the case remain in state court, and it may benefit him to do so.
Irvin has already won a few decisions in state court, namely that Marriott must identify the employee alleging him of misconduct and that Marriott must provide video evidence of the interaction.
