The Brandon Miller situation in Alabama has drawn heavy criticism from around the sports world — but not from college basketball analyst Jay Bilas.

During a recent appearance on PTI, Bilas said the Crimson Tide program has handled the situation "about as well as you can."

"Brandon Miller has rights. The authorities have told Alabama that he's a witness, not a suspect," Bilas said.

"There is no indication that he has violated any law. They know him better than we do. If they didn't take action five weeks ago when this horrible tragedy happened, I don't see any reason to do it now."

“If he were held out of competition now, that would be Alabama saying, ‘Our reputation as a university and what people say about us is more important than our player,'" he added.

The basketball world took to Twitter to react to this take from Bilas.

"Jay Bilas makes a compelling argument that changes my view on this situation, but does not change my mind about the inept and feckless NCAA," one fan wrote.

"Bilas saying what I've been thinking," another said. "A woman would be alive if Brandon Miller didn’t deliver a gun to a scene of a crime," another added.

On Wednesday, police testimony revealed that Darius Miles allegedly texted Miller to bring the gun to the scene of the crime where it was used to kill 23-year-old woman Jamea Harris.

Miller took the court for the Crimson Tide the very same night, dropping 41 points in an overtime win over South Carolina.
